I joined Chesterfield Grammar School in September 1958
after passing the 11 Plus examination whilst at Mary Swanwick Primary
School.
My father - Sid, was also a pupil at the Grammar School from 1929
to 1934.
It was at the Grammar School that I started to be interested in
photography,
making full use of the school darkroom which used to be in Hurst House.
Unfortunately ( some may say fortunately ! ) most of my early efforts
have
not survived the ravages of time. Those that have are shown below, supplemented
by a few more recent ones.
The page dedicated to the school visit
to Norway in 1961 is only possible due to the
many photographs provided by Paul Makepeace. He has also provided his
detailed
diary of the eventful trip. Don't miss it ! If anyone else has photos
or memories of the
trip I would be very happy to include them in this page.
